Today, from 13:35 (UTC) to 14:55 (UTC), part of our monitoring notifications and transactional emails have been delivered with a delay, while a very small number of notifications (non-emails) failed to deliver completely.
Our technicians have found the issue to be with the system that handles the notifications queue; it had become overwhelmed and had started building up a backlog.
The team acted very quickly, and by 15:00 (UTC), all of our notifications were being delivered in real-time again, as usual.
We have implemented several fixes for this issue, including some major changes to how our notifications queue is handled, in order to avoid this problem from ever happening again in the future.
